Chris leads the strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale power generation projects for FirstEnergy, overseeing the development of both renewable and conventional energy assets to expand Mon Power and Potomac Edison’s generation portfolio and support future needs for reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable electricity. He joined the company on April 21, 2025.
Chris comes to FirstEnergy from American Electric Power (AEP), where he served as Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor, overseeing generation, transmission, supply chain, and other major operational areas. Over his 34-year tenure at AEP, he held a series of senior leadership roles—including Executive Vice President of Energy Service and President and Chief Operating Officer of Appalachian Power—gaining extensive experience across generation, distribution, and transmission operations.
From November 2010 to January 2013, Chris served as Managing Director of Projects & Construction, leading project management for AEP’s western fleet, all new generating projects, and the commissioning and construction of major facilities. Notably, he played a central role in bringing the John W. Turk Jr. Coal Plant online—a 600-megawatt ultra-supercritical plant in Fulton, Arkansas, and the first of its kind in the United States when it began operations in 2012.
Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in technical management from DeVry University. He also completed the Executive Program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, the AEP Management Development Program at The Ohio State University, and the AEP Leadership Program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
